SAIC Commercial Vehicles or Landing at the European Market by the End of the Year

While pushing independent cars to overseas markets, the pace of going out of SAIC commercial vehicles is also accelerating. According to Lan Qingsong, director and general manager of Shanghai Automotive Commercial Vehicles Co., Ltd. (referred to as SAIC Commercial Vehicle), SAIC Maxus's MAXUS light commercial vehicles will land in the European mainstream markets such as the UK and Spain at the end of the year.

SAIC Commercial Vehicle is a latecomer in the commercial vehicle field. It was established on the basis of LDV, a British commercial vehicle manufacturer acquired by SAIC Motor in 2009, and has been in operation for only two years. Its subordinate product brand is Chase MAXUS, which specializes in high-end light commercial vehicles. In 2012, SAIC Chase sold 6,000 vehicles. This year, the goal of SAIC Chase is to capture 8% of market share, sell more than 10,000 new cars, and double sales growth in overseas markets.

Due to the large economic fluctuations, the growth rate of the high-end light passenger vehicle market is lower than the general expectation in recent years. The average annual growth rate is only 2% to 3%, which is still not as fast as the overall growth rate of the auto industry. However, with the increase in the demand for school buses and the acceleration of urbanization, the long-term prospects of this market segment are optimistic in the industry, and mainstream commercial vehicle companies such as Jianghuai, Yutong, Jinlong, and Huanghai have all entered the field.

In the development of overseas markets, SAIC Datong successively obtained accreditations such as the Australian ADR certification, the EU ECE certification, and the Gulf Six-GSO certification and other international standard certifications, and obtained a “pass” for full participation in international market competition. Last year, it developed 12 overseas countries and regions. The pace of going overseas this year will also accelerate.

Lan Qingsong revealed that at the end of this year, SAIC Chase is expected to enter the European market in small quantities. “The big market for LDV is overseas, and dealers in the UK and Spain have been waiting for us.” Lan Qingsong said.
