The hydraulic winch is a kind of large deck machinery used in the ship. It is used to pull up or throw ropes. It is usually mounted on the main deck of the stem or stern of the ship for mooring ropes.
The hydraulic winch mainly consists of base, support, drums, brakes, loose drums, gearboxes, electronic control systems, hydraulic power pack, etc. Its type is decided by the size of the ship and mooring force.
The mooring winch can run effectively when the ship is berthing in the sea or by the bank. It has many functions such as to drift, support and locate in the process of loading and unloading. Its constant tension adjust deviation generated by compensation vibration. The fact that the mooring winch fixed on the bank is used when the anchoring ships are loading and unloading is a excellent application example of constant tension adjustment. The hydraulic winch is usually the one with great rated load. The winch with above 10t to 5000t load is designed to hydraulic form.
It mainly consists of the hydraulic motor(low-speed or high-speed motor),hydraulic normally closed multiple plate brake, epicyclic gearboxes, clutches(optional),drums, support shaft, rack,  roll-fixed device(optional),etc. The hydraulic motor has great mechanical efficiency and starting torque. It can be fitted with the different distributors by the requirements of working condition. Its valve boxes can be customized and integrated into the oil distributor of the motor, such as balance valve, overload valve, high pressure shuttle valve, speed governing reversing valve, or valve boxes with other performances. The brakes and epicyclic gearboxes, etc are mounted directly in the drums. The drums, support shaft and the rack are designed by dynamics requirements, and its massive structure is concise and rational and has enough strength and rigidity, so the winches of series are characterized  by, structurally speaking, compactness, small in size, light in weight, nice appearance, and in terms of the performance, it is featured by good safety, high efficiency, great starting torque, good stability at low speed, small noise and reliable operation, etc.
