Winner: igus e-skin won the Fraunhofer Clean Technology Award

The e-skin bellows was developed by igus for clean production areas. E-skin bellows: Developed specifically for cleanroom applications, it performs 6.4 million round trip tests at a speed of 3 m/s in the lab.

The e-skin bellows are made of optimized wear-resistant engineering plastics. The detachable upper and lower shells easily form a fully enclosed hose by means of a “zippered” closure, which is dust and water resistant. Therefore, it is not only suitable for clean room environments, but also for quickly filling or replacing cables. In addition, the easy-to-assemble e-skin bellows are also very lightweight and suitable for use in small installation spaces such as picking applications.
