Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler. On April 18th, its factory in Chennai, India, was officially completed. It invested a total of 44 billion rupees (approximately 852 million U.S. dollars) to build the plant. It is to enter the rapidly growing truck and bus market in India.

Daimler expects that the plant will be put into production this autumn. This year's annual production capacity will be around 5,000. The plant's maximum production capacity will reach 72,000 trucks per year.

Marc Lilstosella stated that the new Daimler plant in India will start exporting vehicles from next year, and that by 2015, the localization rate of spare parts for the plant will reach around 90%.

In the past six years, the sales of commercial vehicles in the Indian automobile market have almost doubled to 800,000 vehicles per year, far exceeding the sales growth of cars. However, the local automobile market is dominated by manufacturers such as local automaker Tata and the new entrants are very Difficult to get a place.
