Fan Xian said that standards should be forward-looking and can guide the direction of the industry. Therefore, the standard issue is a major issue involving the survival of the industry. Developed countries all rely on the development of more detailed and complex standards that are conducive to the use of their own technical expertise to protect their intellectual property rights and markets. This is precisely the current weakness of the Chinese tire industry.
Wang Kexian, secretary general of the National Wheel Rim Standardization Technical Committee, said that the national standard of the tire industry is obviously lower than corporate standards and industry standards. The specifications and varieties of domestic tires have been updated very quickly, and the standards have been revised every year. However, it takes 3 to 5 years from the establishment of the national standard to implementation, causing many new models and new types of tires to “disregardâ€.
It is understood that the United States, the European Union and other countries regularly revise and supplement their tire standards in response to actual market conditions. For example, the tire recall system that will be implemented in the United States in September this year will emphasize the safety of tires, especially the analysis of rapid aging and tire variability. The European Union attaches more importance to human health issues and began formulating tire noise directives in the first two years.
Ge Guorong, deputy general manager of Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., Ltd., told reporters that China's roads, traffic conditions and tire usage habits are very different from those in Europe and the United States, and that tires have higher requirements for high-speed and high-load performance. The tires are quite different, but at present, China does not have a tire standard with Chinese characteristics. The adoption of European and American standards generally cannot be said to be a pity.
Speaking of the reasons for the lagging standard, Wu Guizhong, executive vice president of the China Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute, believes that the formulation of standards requires a lot of physical and chemical data, but domestic tire testing methods are still relatively backward. According to Tan Yukun, deputy secretary-general of the China Rubber Association tire division, there are still differences in the definition of some tires and performance in China, which makes it difficult to formulate standards, thus creating an embarrassing situation of “products, no standardsâ€.
To this end, Fan Xian called on the state to strengthen standard-setting work. In addition to drawing on foreign advanced standards, it should also formulate its own standards in light of China's situation. Wang Kexian hopes to vigorously promote tire industry standards at this stage, and as soon as possible to get the national recognition, do not always follow foreign standards, we should have their own characteristics standards.
