Report by Chen Xiaoyu, Shanghai reporter Recently, Gary Sguelder, director of business development for the Asia Pacific Region of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), received an exclusive interview with reporters. He believes that China's local parts and components companies have developed rapidly. The biggest problem currently facing is the application of technology.
In 1979, he entered SAE in China and had a deeper understanding of Chinese local companies. Gary said: "Although China's spare parts companies have irreplaceable cost advantages, but in the fierce global competition, China's parts and components companies still have problems with intellectual property rights and technology applications." He explained that there are no technology parts companies Faced with the challenges of intellectual property rights, enterprises that acquire technology suffer from application problems.
Gary told the reporter about two stories he had personally experienced. Although an interior trim company with 15 factories in China has a high-level production line, there is always a problem with the products that are produced, either with scratches or bubbles on the surface. The company turned to SAE for help. SAE sent experts in chemical materials and metal materials to help them find a solution to the problem.
Another auto plastic parts manufacturer, the production line is very advanced, but the waste rate is close to 10%, resulting in a serious waste of resources, the durability of the product is worse than the competition. SAE sent two experts to the company to provide technical cooperation services. After the on-site inspection, the experts proposed 11 improvement measures and made a lot of improvements to their production methods, work processes, and test, measurement, and calibration systems.
Gary told reporters that despite the basic technology and equipment, the two companies have experienced problems in their application. It is understood that many local Chinese parts and components companies face similar difficulties. SAE hopes to use its own experience to help these companies.
