The order of new ships signed in the first week of 2011 presented a single pattern of ships. The Chinese shipyard signed a total of 10 multi-functional ships. In particular, it is worth mentioning that the Taikoo Group, a subsidiary of the Swire Group, has completed the ordering of eight multi-purpose vessels of 31,000 dwt each to Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. of Zhoushan Island in China, worth a total value of US$300 million. The shipments will be delivered between January and August 2013. The contract will also include eight options vessels. Chinese shipowners have signed most of bulk carriers at Chinese shipyards, and the price of ships remains strong, with no major changes.
