Selection of Additives in Carbon and Sulfur Analysis

Ningbo high-speed carbon-sulfur analyzer is an important instrument for the analysis of carbon and sulfur content in steel. The selection of additives for combustion and carbon-sulfur determination is a noteworthy issue. Next, the common additives for high-frequency furnaces are briefly introduced.

Ningbo high-speed carbon and sulfur analyzer high-frequency induction furnace requirements for additives:

1. The selection of additives is conductive magnetic material as far as possible, and it is an exothermic reaction in the combustion process as much as possible. It forms a mutually melted fluid when the sample oxide melts. Volatiles do not adsorb CO2 and SO2.

2. The content of carbon and sulfur in the additive is low, ω(C)<0.001% and ω(S)<0.0005%. The smaller the carbon and sulfur blanks, the better.

3. When the additive and sample are oxidized and melted, there is no corrosion effect on the crucible so as to avoid cracking and leakage during the combustion process.

4. The particle size of the additive tungsten should be controlled between 0.84-0.42mm as much as possible, and the porosity should be about 15%. The surface should be dense and smooth, which can prevent the oxygen flow from being disturbed, and it can quickly oxidize and burn, and can also reduce the surface adsorption.

Tungsten is a common additive for high frequency furnaces. Its characteristics are as follows:

1. Tungsten is a hard-to-melt metal. Its melting point is 3,380 °C . Arc temperature can melt tungsten. As a result, tungsten filaments are commonly used in light bulbs, which can be used as additives because tungsten is easily oxidized.

2. The tungsten pellets pass oxygen at temperatures above 650 °C and begin to oxidize and emit a large amount of heat. W+3/2O2=WO3, △ H=-840.11kJ/mol

This reaction has the characteristics of high calorific value and fast reaction rate, resulting in loose WO3.

3, WO3 is an acidic oxide, its formation is conducive to the release of CO2 and SO2, its melting point 1473 °C , boiling point of about 1750 °C . An important characteristic of WO3 is that there is a significant sublimation at temperatures above 900 °C and some WO3 is volatile. Due to the escape of WO3, the diffusion rate of carbon and sulfur was increased, and the carbon and sulfur in the sample were fully oxidized. Volatilized WO3 is converted into solid phase at 700-800 °C , covering the existing Fe2O3 in the pipeline, preventing the catalytic conversion of SO2 to SO3, preventing the adsorption of sulfur on the pipeline, thus ensuring reliable analysis results of carbon and sulfur. Sex. In addition, the low tungsten blank value can be used for the determination of low carbon and low sulfur. Therefore, tungsten particle additives have been widely used in high-frequency furnace combustion.

The selection of high-frequency induction furnace additives for high-speed carbon-sulfur analyzers is critical. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the requirements of high-frequency induction furnace additives. I hope the above introduction will help everyone!
