Persulfate is divided into ammonium persulfate, sodium persulfate and potassium persulfate etc. They are highly oxidizing and corrosive. Completely dry persulfate is not easy to decompose, while wet product will decompose to release oxygen and ozone. It is easily soluble in water, and the aqueous solution will decompose at room temperature. The appearance of sodium persulfate and potassium persulfate is white crystalline powder, odorless and will decompose when contacting with metal.
Persulfate is the initiator of latex or acrylic monomer polymerization liquid, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride and other products, and also the initiator of copolymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile, butadiene and other colloids. On the other hand, persulfates can be used as a strong oxidant.
Mainly application list as follows:
1. Ammonium persulfate is used as oxidant, bleach and desizing agent;
2. Ammonium persulfate is used as etching, initiator and hydrogen peroxide;
3. Potassium persulfate is used as initiator for lotion polymerization of vinyl acetate, acrylate, acrylonitrile, styrene, vinyl chloride and other monomers;
4. Potassium persulfate is used as disinfectant and bleaching agent;
5. Sodium persulfate is used as oxidant, battery depolarizer, polymerization promoter, etc.
