Thailand wants to create a mold manufacturing power

Deputy Minister of Industry Bammo of Thailand said that the Ministry of Industry is preparing to formulate a domestic capacity development plan for the mold industry from 2010 to 2014 with a budget of 1 billion baht, of which 1.25 million baht is used to increase the capabilities of professional mold-making personnel.

Because the current weakness in the domestic mold industry is the lack of senior technicians, the Ministry of Industry will cooperate with German talent training institutions to help train the above senior technicians.

At present, the domestic mold industry technology must still be imported from abroad. Due to rapid industrial growth, the level of the mold industry can no longer meet market demand. According to data from 2004, the total value of mold machine tools imported from abroad by Thailand reached 25 billion baht, and the annual growth rate reached 10-20%. However, since the Ministry of Industry promoted the mold industry capacity plan, the total value of imports decreased, and the total value of imports in 2009 remained. 21 billion baht, if the Ministry of Industry has not implemented the industry development plan, it is believed that the import value may exceed 35 billion baht.

Wei Luo, chairman of the Thai Mould Industry Association, said that due to the continuous growth of domestic industries, there are six car companies recently to invest in small-scale energy-saving cars, I believe they all need mold production parts. As for the exports of export molds, it has been exported to countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Japan. Most Japanese companies have imported molds and household utensils and sanitary ware from Thailand. This shows that the Thai mold industry still has development prospects.
