What is the impact of pulp quality score on flotation?

The pulp mass fraction is an important process factor for flotation and has a significant impact on flotation. There are generally two methods for expressing the mass fraction of the slurry: 1 The ratio of liquid to solid , which represents the ratio of the mass to the mass ( or volume ) of the liquid in the slurry . This representation is very convenient when calculating the slurry flow. 2 Percentage of solid content (%) , which represents the percentage of solid mass ( or volume ) in the slurry . This method of representation is widely used in mineral processing experiments and production.

The main effects of pulp quality score on flotation have the following aspects:

(1) Recovery rate. Within a certain range, when the pulp mass fraction is low, the recovery rate is low; the pulp mass fraction increases, and the recovery rate increases accordingly. However, the mass fraction of the slurry should not be too large. If it is too large, the flotation machine is difficult to inflate normally in the slurry, which in turn reduces the recovery rate.

(2) Concentrate grade. The general rule is that the concentrate grade is higher when flotation is carried out in a leaner slurry, while the concentrate grade is reduced when it is floated in a thicker slurry.

(3) dosage of the agent. The flotation agent should maintain a certain mass fraction in the pulp to have a good flotation effect. When the pulp is thicker, the mass fraction of the medicament is correspondingly increased, that is, the required medicament mass fraction can be achieved with a smaller amount of the medicament, and the amount of the medicament per t ore is correspondingly reduced. On the other hand, when the pulp is thinner, the amount of the agent increases.

(4) Coarse flotation. The increase of the mass fraction of the slurry increases the density of the slurry and increases the buoyancy accordingly, which increases the suspension capacity of the coarse particles and the collision chance with the bubbles, which is beneficial to the flotation of the coarse particles.

(5) Fine particle flotation. When the mass fraction of the slurry is large, the viscosity of the slurry increases, and the fine-grained minerals and the fine-grained gangues adhere to each other, which causes the concentrate grade to decrease. On the contrary, this effect will be reduced.

In actual production, the optimum pulp mass fraction for flotation, in addition to the above factors, also needs to consider the ore properties and specific flotation conditions. The general principle is: large flotation density, coarse-grained minerals, often with a thicker slurry. Conversely, when the flotation density is small and the fine-grained mineral is used, the thinner slurry is used. The coarse selection and sweeping operations use a thicker slurry to ensure higher recovery and saves chemicals. The selected work uses a thinner slurry to help improve the grade. The separation of difficult-to-separate mixed concentrates should also use leaner slurries to ensure a higher quality qualified concentrate.

Generally metallic mineral flotation pulp mass fraction: roughing, 25% to 45%; selection, 10% to 20%; scavenging, 20% to 40%. The highest pulp quality score for rough selection can reach 50% to 55% , and the minimum pulp mass fraction for selection is 6% to 8% .
