BASF Chemical Project is expected to settle in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area

The 400,000-ton MDI project of the German chemical giant BASF in Chongqing is expected to receive final approval from the relevant Chinese authorities this year, and plans to complete the mechanical completion of the production plant in 2013. The director of the Executive Board of BASF Europe, Bo Lun Le, disclosed the above news in Chongqing today.
MDI, diphenylmethane diisocyanate, is an important raw material for polyurethane production. Polyurethane is a versatile plastic material that can be used in almost all industries. The 400,000-ton MDI project of BASF Chongqing is located in Changshou District, Chongqing, and is located in the Three Gorges reservoir area.
BASF announced the latest progress of the Chongqing MDI project here. According to reports, due to the financial crisis and the consequent changes in the market situation, the Chongqing MDI project has been delayed compared to the original plan. The project is expected to receive final approval from the Chinese government within this year. BASF's executive board will approve the project investment in the first quarter of 2010. The project will achieve mechanical completion in 2013 and be put into commercial operation in 2014.
BASF stated that in order to ensure environmental health and safety, BASF will adopt the following measures: including comprehensive environmental due diligence before the start of the project; automatic shutdown mechanism under fault conditions; complete process of water safety protection; strict compliance with all employees Process training; comprehensive and regular inspection of the production base.
