The new comprehensive scientific research ship "Experiment 1" No. 3 maiden voyage

On May 9, the inaugural ceremony of the new comprehensive scientific research ship of the Chinese Academy of Sciences – “Experiment 1” was held in Sanya, Hainan. Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Lu Yongxiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Vice President Jiang Mianheng, cut the ribbon for the maiden ceremonies. The leaders of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the inaugural ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Li Zhigang, Secretary General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At 16 o'clock in the afternoon, with Lu Yixiang announcing the start of the flight, the "Experiment 1" scientific research ship whistle rang, drove off the dock and ran to the blue sea.

It is understood that as early as the beginning of 2002, the Chinese Academy of Sciences decided to start the construction of a new type of comprehensive research vessel. Since the earlier "Experiment 1" scientific research vessel has been retired, the newly constructed scientific research vessel continues to use the name "Experiment 1". The "Experiment 1" scientific research ship has a number of "first" ones. It is the first large-scale small waterplane catamaran of 2000 tons or above in China, and it is also the first small waterline comprehensive scientific research ship in China. It was jointly developed by the Institute of Acoustics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the South China Sea Ocean Institute, and the Shenyang Automation Institute. It was designed by CSIC 702 and built by Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. The ship has a total length of 60 meters, a width of 26 meters, and a full-load displacement of 2,560 tons. The steel is fully welded, with a range of 8,000 nautical miles, a self-sustaining force of 40 days, a maximum speed of 15 knots, and a level 6 sea state. It can be used for scientific research in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields such as underwater sound, ocean physics, geological biology, ocean and atmospheric environment in offshore and ocean. It is one of the most advanced comprehensive scientific research vessels in China.

It is understood that there are 11 laboratories on the "Experiment 1" ship, which basically covers the main categories of marine scientific research. After the "Experiment 1" comprehensive scientific research ship is put into use, it will be open to the whole country and establish an open laboratory to carry out exchanges and cooperation with international counterparts in the field of marine scientific research. Cai Xiaoyang, Director of the Ship Division of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the "Experiment 1" new comprehensive scientific research vessel has a design capacity of 72 people, including 27 full-time crew members, who can receive 45 scientists at the same time and carry out various marine science experiments at the same time. research work.

At the beginning of the construction of the "Experiment 1" scientific research ship, the Chinese Academy of Sciences determined the construction guidelines of "advanced technical performance, distinctive features, well-equipped, moderate displacement". Tian Jing, director of the High Technology Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said: "After the trial of winter low-temperature seas and the return of 2,200 nautical miles in complex spring conditions in spring, the design and construction quality of the ship was tested, which not only reflected the good wave resistance of the ship, but also fully verified the The reliability of the AC variable frequency electric propulsion system, the practicality of the advanced functions such as ship automation and dynamic positioning, and the success of the whole ship damping and noise reduction. 'Experiment No. 1' is not only a history in the history of the construction of scientific research vessels in China. Milestones will also become a new starting point for the future of marine science research in China."

Jiang Mianheng pointed out that the ocean accounts for more than two-thirds of the surface area of the earth. It is not only an important factor affecting global climate change and the formation of natural disasters, but also closely related to the energy, resources and environment on which humans depend. The 21st century is the century of the ocean. The future development of Chinese society is inseparable from the ocean. Just as astronomical research is inseparable from telescopes, high-energy physics research is inseparable from accelerators, and marine research is inseparable from scientific research vessels. In terms of marine development, we must not only pay attention to shallow seas, but also gradually explore deep seas. We hope that advanced comprehensive scientific research vessels can provide reliable multidisciplinary simultaneous observation data and become a solid support platform for independent innovation.

Jiang Mianheng also said that as a national scientific research institution, the purpose of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is to face the national strategic needs, face the forefront of the world science, strengthen original scientific and technological innovation, strengthen key technological innovations and major system integration, and continue to lay the foundation for China's economic construction and social development. Strategic, forward-looking contributions. In the process of "developing the ocean, building the ocean, and defending the ocean", "scientific and technological development" is our unshirkable responsibility. With the opportunity of the "Experiment 1" scientific research vessel put into use, our scientific and technical personnel should be more actively involved in the practice of exploring the ocean, discover new scientific problems; more actively participate in the marine development and construction, in order to enhance the national marine economy. Make unremitting efforts at the level.
