Use of fluorite mineral resources and technical and economic indicators (2)
Fluorite is used to make prisms and high-quality optical components because of its optically low dispersion, low refractive index, and high UV and infrared filtering properties. The technical requirements for optical fluorite are very strict, requiring pure (or uniform light color), transparent, red (purple) outer line transmission, no cracks, no inclusions, good mechanical properties. The fluorite flakes with a thickness of 1.5 mm must pass through 80% of the infrared rays with a wavelength of 4.5 pm, and the crystal specifications are also strictly regulated (Table 4). As people's living standards improve, the demand for jewelry and crafts continues to increase. Fluorite has a dense structure, colorful and diverse, and has been valued as a raw material for craft carving. In the glass industry, fluorite is added as a fluxing agent and an opacifier to promote the melting of glass raw materials. Different glass, fluorite is added in different amounts. Ordinary glass plate, fluorite is added in an amount of 1% of the charge; alkaline glass ball, fluorite is added in an amount of 1% to 2%; oxidized glass and fluorite are added in 3%; white, cream, colored glass In the production process, fluorite is used as a co-solvent as an auxiliary agent, and the amount of fluorite is 10% to 20% of the charge. The glass industry requires strict quality of fluorite, requiring CaF 2 >80%; Fe 2 O 3 <0.2%.
In cement production, fluorite is added as a mineralizer. Fluorite can reduce the sintering temperature of the charge, reduce fuel consumption, and at the same time enhance the liquid viscosity of the clinker during sintering and promote the formation of tricalcium silicate. In cement production, the amount of fluorite added is generally from 4% to 5% to 0.8% to 1%. The quality of fluorite in the cement industry is not strict. Generally, the CaF 2 content is above 40%, and the impurity content requirements are not specified.
In the ceramic industry, fluorite is mainly used as enamel, which can help color and flux during the production of enamel. For example, after adding fluorite to the red enamel, the color of the fluorite in the ceramic enamel is generally about 10% to 20%.
Fluorite is also used in enamel industry and cast stone production with 3% to 10% and 3%, respectively.
In the building materials industry, the quality requirements for fluorite are different due to different uses. At present, the quality requirements of fluorite used in the building materials industry in China are specified in the National Standard GB19321-88 "Fluorite Powder Mine" (Table 3).
